Teen driving courses are a great way to prepare teenagers for the road, teaching them how to operate cars properly and safely. At Mike’s Driving School in Williamstown, New Jersey, teenagers can take our teen driving course to learn the rules of the road. Here, we discuss what you can expect when interacting with a teen driving instructor during your course.

About Our Teen Driving Course

Teenage drivers don’t have the experience that comes with driving for many years, so they can be at higher risk for speeding, distracted driving, not wearing seatbelts, and more. Our teen driving course at Mike’s Driving School is designed to promote safe driving practices and help teens gain driving experience in different situations and locations. We provide teen driving classes, as well as assistance with the driver’s license test. At Mike’s Driving School, we even offer door-to-door service for added convenience—picking up the teen driver, taking them to lessons, and returning them home safely.

If the teenager is 17 years old, or older, they need to have a valid permit from New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJ MVC) before starting lessons. For teens who are 16 years old, we can facilitate taking the permit test in our office.

How to Interact With Your Teen Driving Instructor

If you’re a teenager who is just starting to drive (or the parent of one), you may be anxious thinking about taking driving courses with an instructor. The great thing about taking driving lessons with trained instructors and not from your parents or relatives, is the professionalism and high level of training these instructors offer. At Mike’s Driving School, our instructors are calm, friendly, patient, and highly experienced at teaching new drivers how to operate vehicles properly. Some tips for interacting with your teen driving instructor include:

Be Polite

Just like you should interact politely with a teacher or other type of instructor, it’s important to be friendly and courteous to your driving instructor. They have your best interest in mind and want you to learn how to drive safely and correctly. Even if they may correct you, make sure to have a positive attitude and stay polite.

Come Prepared

When you go to your driving lessons or courses, make sure you’re prepared and ready to listen attentively to what the instructor has to say. It’s a good idea to come ready with your cell phone silenced or turned off to avoid distractions. If you’re taking a class or test, bring your writing utensils and any other supplies you may need, like a notebook or paper.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

When you’re working with a driving instructor, don’t be afraid to ask questions for clarification or feedback. If you’re doing road practice and the instructor corrects something that you don’t fully understand, after you come to a stop, you can ask them for further explanation. If you’re wondering what you could use more practice on, ask for feedback that you can use when practicing at home.

These are just a few tips for interacting with your teen driving instructor that can help you get the most out of your lessons.
