Each of our CDL school courses is built to equip students with the skills they need to be responsible commercial drivers. Courses begin with classroom instruction and skill development in our training yard before students go out on the road for real-life practice. Each lesson plan is carefully designed to ensure students master the skills required for a CDL.
Our Advanced Class A with Forklift and Advanced Class A Refresher courses both offer 200 hours of instruction. The lesson plans for these courses will cover topics including:
Instructors will prepare students with the skills needed to pass the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (NJ MVC) exams required to earn a CDL. This course also includes forklift operator training approved by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Classes typically run Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have earned an NJ MVC Class A CDL and an OSHA forklift certification.
The Forklift OSHA Certification course is an eight-hour program with classroom and hands-on instruction. The lesson plan includes:
At the end of the course, students will take the OSHA test for powered industrial trucks. Graduates will earn an OSHA-approved forklift certificate and wallet card.
Our Advanced Class B Straight Truck with Forklift course offers students 128 hours of training in preparation for the CDL exam. The lesson plan for this course includes theories behind commercial vehicle operation, forklift operation, and all yard and road skills needed for the CDL exam. Upon completion, students can earn an NJ MVC-issued Class B CDL and an OSHA-approved pocket card for forklift operation. This course typically runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Advanced Class B with Passenger course provides students with 120 hours of interactive training. The lesson plan for this course prepares students to pass all exams required for the Class B CDL. Students will learn the theories behind commercial vehicle operation and practice on Class B vehicles in our training yard. With the add-on passenger endorsement, licensed Class B drivers can operate passenger vehicles such as buses, shuttles, and limousines. This course runs from Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Upon successful completion of the course, students can earn an NJ MVC Class B CDL and passenger endorsement.
All CDL courses at Mike’s Driving School include minimum attendance requirements for graduation eligibility.
